Access Full Map: Ikon vs Epic Pass
Boston Area:
It is probably a toss up between Ikon and Epic as there are quite a few choices for both. Your final choice would depend on where you wish to fly out to for a ski vacation.
Reasons for Ikon: Major resorts such as Stratton, Sugarbush, Killington, Sugarloaf are within 2.5 hours away.
Reasons for Epic: Crotched Mountain is only 1.5 hours away, which makes it decent for a weekday night skiing even for working professionals.
East Coast Canadians (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal):
It looks like Ikon is the only reasonable pass to get. Mont Tremblant is just 2 hrs away from Montreal and Ottawa. Blue Mountain is 2.5 hrs away from Toronto. Though, Montrealers can go for the Epic if they prefer Stowe instead and the occasional trip to Stoneham/Mont Saint-Anne.
New York/New Jersey Area:
Epic is the only reasonable choice. Roundtop, Big Boulder, Jack Frost, and Hunter Mountain are the nearest resorts within 3 hours.
Maryland/DC Area:
Epic is a no-brainer. Whitetail Mountain, Liberty Mountain, and Roundtop Mountain are all within 1.5 hours away.

Errrr, Sugarloaf 2.5 hours from Boston. I don’t think so…..a solid 4……Do you mean Sunday River which is 3 and is Ikon?
Good point. I guess I sort of fudged the numbers and its closer to 3 hrs for people in northern Boston lol!
